Part of being a social society means that you make friends, and we're no exception! We're well connected with other societies who use our rooms and bar, local therapists, and even alternative venues to socialise - just see the list below. This is by no means an exhaustive list - we also allow our Schunck room to be used for one-off debates, recitals and dramatic performances by other people too!
![]() | Empathy Holistics is, in turn, the brainchild of our other therapist, Emma Lawson. You can find out about Emma's aromatherapy and massage services at the Empathy Holistics Website, or by email. |
The Bowling Green on Grafton Street is our thursday night venue during the summer months - if you're wondering where we all are, just pop along from 8pm (or, if you want food, service stops at 7), and you'll find us taking over one of their large tables!
The Ducie Arms, under the same management as the Bowling Green, is our meeting place for sunday committee meetings, which we always follow by lunch at which the whole society is welcome! You'll find the Ducie a stone's throw from the Burlington Rooms, on the opposite side of the John Rylands University Library to us.
Monday Evenings, from 19:30 - Monday Magic, Schunck Building, Burlington Bar, or Schunck Room (depending on numbers).
If you've played before please bring your own decks. We do have a number of decks for the cardless but they are going to be setup for beginners (ie no rares or really really nasty creatures/spells etc!)
There's a mailing list for announcements and general discussion. You can subscribe here: http://lists.man.ac.uk/mailman/listinfo/friday-night-magic

Warped is the University of Manchester's Science fiction and fantasy society. We meet on a Monday evening in the Burlington Bar and we are mainly a gathering of people who just like sci-fi. Meetings are just a general relaxed get-together where we all talk about the latest sci-fi programmes and the developments of films, as well as everything else in between. We also have film nights, trips to the cinema or bowling and arrange an annual trip to Blackpool Pleasure Beach.
We also have a library that is open to use for all our members and contains many sci-fi and fantasy classics with items such as Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy and Terry Pratchett books as well as comedy science fiction such as the Red Dwarf series. We also like to get together to play sci-fi pictionary, have black hole debates and have regular trips to Fab, the sci-fi bar in Manchester city centre.
